Charles: When somebody wants to get into the air duct cleaning business, what’s the first step?
Mike: Calling me, Charlie. Just dial 1-800-AIR-DUCT. No. 1-888-4-MICHAEL. We’ll be glad to give them the low down. You know? One way or the other. I’d like to poke holes in his idea and why he wants to get into the business. To really find out whether he wants to get into the business or not.
There are a number of examples I could give you but it’s usually a child, a parent, or a couple of parents that push Harold into purchasing an air duct cleaning truck or some equipment. Then you find it four or five years later in the garage, stored, that’s only been used once or twice because Harold didn’t want to do that. I think it’s a good idea to really find out about something before you invest in equipment.
I know if I was going to be a dentist, I wouldn’t purchase all of my equipment before I went to dental school. It’s after you go to dental school that you figure out exactly what kind of equipment you want. I think because we have so many types of equipment and we’re such a large company, we have the ability to show people a lot of good equipment that’s on the market. And some real stinkers too.
Our reputation allows a lot of the people or bring things onto the market to explore it with us for a couple of months beforehand. Then they ask for our opinion. So we do have an awful a lot of extra equipment we can explain. Show to people. So they can make their own decisions.
